Hey!! I hope your week is going well. The countdown is on for the Holidays and the end to this year! This week is very busy for me because I am wrapping up my last few client projects for the year! And trust me when I tell you, I am ready to hand them over. Each year, I make it so that I finish assignments early to mid December so that I can relax, recharge and spend time with family. This time of the year is very special to me and it’s one of the few times where I just push work temporarily to the side. By November, I’ve completed my holiday shopping for the special people in my lives and any charity organization that I donate to. I refuse to be in the midst of the traffic, picked over items and the tons of people that flock the streets hoping to find last minute gifts. No buddy. Count me out!! For me, it’s important that I reflect over my year, identify my blessings and just give thanks to the good man upstairs for seeing me through. That’s one thing that I don’t take for granted. I’m off to finish some work but I wanted to share a few of my favorite items from last month. I’ll try to do this more regularly.
Spiked Boots by Bongo (K-Mart) - I first saw a girl on Instagram with these and when I found out she got them from K-mart, I was eager to see if they had my size in stock. Prior to racking up on a toilet tissue and paper towel deal a few months back, the last time I remember going inside of a K-mart was in 2009 for a board game. It’s certainly not my top store of choice but I’m also not too proud to get the things that I want. If you all remember, Bongo use to be a really popular brand sold in department stores like Macy’s and then Sears. With Sears owning K-mart, I guess they are the new chain that carries the brand. I didn’t care to much for any of the other shoes, but I loved these! One thing that caught me off guard was that they were priced at $34.99 – I was surprised. I thought it was a little high for K-mart. Guess not.
Revlon Colorburst 018 Fire (CVS) - First of all, I LOVE this line from Revlon. Pigmented and full of coverage. I seriously want every shade from this line! I have 4 and each time I apply my makeup, I’m so impressed. You don’t need a lipstick as a base, this product is enough on it’s own.
Colgate 360 Optic White Powered Toothbrush (Harris Teeter) - I remember when I was a teenager, my mom purchased me my first powered toothbrush and I hated it. When I ran into a sale at my local grocery store ($2.25), I thought I would give it another try. O.M.G. I don’t think I could ever go back to a regular toothbrush, in fact, I’m interested in upgrading to a higher quality brand. Don’t get me wrong, the Colgate Powered Toothbrush that I have will work for now, but I do see a more expensive brand in my future. My teeth feel so clean after each use, as if I visited the dentist.
IntelliDent Toothbrush Shield (Harris Teeter) - I’m not a germaphobe but I am very particular about my items. I like to keep my toothbrush covered to prevent any dusk particles or products that may be surfacing in the air. I am across these disposable toothbrush shields that easily slide on and off of your toothbrush. The packages contain 3 shields and normally retails for $1.99. The instructions say that the shields are to be used for 7-10 days and then discarded. Umm, I’ve definitely used mine for more than 10 days. I guess 1 pack per month. Certainly a hygenic expense.
Curls Cashmere Curl Jelly (Target) - Earlier this year, CURLS partnered with Mae of NaturalChica.com to host a product giveaway for the readers of Miss Business Blog. Not only was it a success but almost 100 people entered the giveaway. The company sent me some products and I kept it under my sink for a while before using it. Why did I wait so long to use this line? Why? I have natural hair (no chemicals) and sometimes I wear my hair straight and sometimes I wear it big and curly to channel my inner Tina Turna, Diana Ross or any of the other fabulous divas of soul. I love how I didn’t have to apply a lot of product for it to work and it lasts! Definitely a staple in my collection.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit (Walmart) - I’m a sucker for scented products but I’m a lover for the ones that actually work. For months, I’ve seen Neutrogena advertise their line of Grapefruit items and I can’t believe it took me so long to try one. I definitely want to get the facial wipes and scrub on my next shopping trip. Not only does it smell good but it leaves my face nice and soft. It’s a keeper!
Victoria’s Secret Dream Angel’s Blush Angel Mist (Victoria’s Secret) - Ever since I was little, I’ve always associated perfumes with the ultra feminine side of a woman. I typically stick to 2 basic scents that I know are staple to my collection. My all time favorite perfume is Aura by Swarvoski. I’ll be wearing that fragrance until either I’m old or it’s discontinued. Nothing makes me feel more sexy and feminine than that fragrance. My next choice is always a mist by Victoria Secret. During a visit to Victoria Secret, they had a sale on their travel size perfume bottles, so I picked up a few scents to try. Blush is definitely a winner. It’s soft enough to be noticed but it doesn’t overpower a room. I call it my weekend scent.
Sharpie Pen (Med) (Office Depot) - I love supplies. Pens, papers, notebooks, you name it. I was recently given a few of these Sharpie Pens and I was pleasantly surprised by how the ink did not bleed through my paper. That’s always a downer for me when using a marker type writing utensil. The next time I’m in an office supply store, I’ll have to check to see if they come in other colors.
